Welcome to Spring in the Haliburton Highlands

Welcome to spring and a real estate update from beautiful Haliburton County.  The market has picked up from last year, as of March 1st,  sales have increased by 53%.  Prices are staying stable from last year.  The main push for sales seems to be the introduction of the HST and possible interest rate increases.

A lawyer would be able to fully explain the impact of the HST and the purchase and sale of property.  However, for the majority of cottage sales, the effect is minimal (lawyer, home inspection fees etc).  Having said  that, the spring market looks like it will be VERY strong.

The annual Cottage Life Show is being held the last weekend of March.  This typically represents the kick-off of the sales year in the county.  Our company will have a prominent display booth for the entire weekend, promoting all of our listings. Personally, our year has started a bit early. Anne and I already have 10 sales since January 1st, including 5 cottage sales.

Century 21 Granite Realty Group Ltd., which Anne and I own, is a full-service firm with 28 agents serving all of Haliburton County.  March break is around the corner, for tips on where to stay or rent in our area, please give us a call.  A great place for you to bring the family for March Break!

This weekend, along with all our regular outdoor activities, we are hosting the Highland Cup 2010.  This is a great event for our community.  Hopefully, you will be able to attend the races!
